blooming onions (garden tip)

The beauty of food crops are often overlooked, because of the typically utilitarian nature of their use.  However, many are actually quite magnificent if given the opportunity to reach reproductive maturity.  As an added bonus, the seeds can be collected, which can save money and help to create a more sustainable garden ecosystem.

Onions have particularly lovely flowers that provide habitat for beneficials and attract bees galore.  To enjoy their aesthetic beauty, simply allow a few of your onion plants to overwinter and they will bloom the following year.
